The VORTEX 360 Dual Rotator will fit the iris slot of the ETC Source Four, the Altman Shakespeare, Strand SL and the Selecon Pacific. It will accept standard B size (86 mm) steel or glass gobos. The rotational speed of the VORTEX can be remotely controlled by plugging the power adapter into an electronic dimmer output (set the power adapter to 12V for best results). However, the dimmer output must be compatible for use with transformers.

The Vortex 360 now includes a three-way toggle switch, discreetly located just under the handle. The switch allows your customers to turn the unit off and on and to control polarity. The front and rear gears rotate opposite each other - but the switch allows the user to determine whether the front or rear will operate clockwise. We've also added a potentiometer knob to manually control the speed of rotation. The Vortex 360 can be plugged into an ordinary wall outlet or, with an adapter, into any convenient dimmer. If powered through a dimmer, the operator can control the speed of rotation through the lighting control board.

The Rosco Gobo Rotator is designed to fit most ellipsoidal fixtures with a drop in iris slot, and allows a gobo to be rotated in the center axis of the beam.

The Gobo Rotator accepts a stainless steel B size gobo. It is secured in the optical path with a high temperature spring clip and an aluminum retaining ring. The unit will also accept any of the full range of Rosco Glass Gobos. (Effects Adaptors will be necessary to adapt a 76mm glass gobo to the 79mm rotator opening.)

Speed and Direction
The Gobo Rotator has one variable speed 12V DC motor that controls the speed and direction of the gobo. The motor requires 2 channels of drive for operation, one for forward and one for reverse. The DC/DMX controller will operate 2 Double Gobo Rotators or 4 Single Gobo Rotators.

Motor Options
The Rosco Gobo Rotator is available with many motor options. The standard 12V DC variable speed motor offers forward and reverse control by means of an on-board selector switch. Other motors available are the 1, 2, 5, and 10 rpm fixed speed motors. The Double Rotator accepts two B size gobos. They are secured face to face in the optical path, secured with high temperature spring clips and aluminum retaining rings. This face to face configuration, made possible by durable but narrow gears, allows the two patterns to have a common center axis. The unit will accept either stainless steel gobos or any of the range of Rosco Glass Gobos. (Effects Adaptors will be necessary to adapt 76mm glass gobos to the 79mm rotator opening.)

Focus
The design of the Double Gobo Rotator allows the two gobos to be positioned less than 1.5mm apart, so that both gobos can be in sharp focus. The aluminum retainer rings(stepper rings), included with every rotator, allow you to experiment with different focus options. By using both retainer rings, you can achieve the effect of one gobo in sharp focus and one in soft focus. The retainer rings can field 3 levels of spacing between the gobos, making the focus options versatile.

Motor Options

Rosco's Indexing Rotators are Double and Single Gobo Rotators which allow you to stop and start the gobo's rotation precisely, whenever and wherever you want. This is particularly useful for repetitive effects, such as the hands of a gobo clock, or for architectural effects, such as a shop display window. Rosco's Indexing Rotators are controlled through DMX512 and the DMX addressing facility is built into the unit. You control both the speed and direction of the rotation as well as the indexing position (up to 180 degrees available) and the amount of time the gobo stays in that position. A Power Supply Unit is necessary to get 24v DC to the Indexer(s) and you can daisy chain multiple units from one Power Supply Unit. Rosco's Double and Single Indexers are compatible with many common PSU's already available including: Wybron-Forerunner PSU; Rainbow-Mini, Maxi, and Micro PSU's; Christie Lites-Color Q PSU; AC Lighting-Chroma Q PSU.
